Four arrested for excessive speeding in Gauteng

Four people were arrested on Friday for speeding on the N4 between Bronkhorstpruit and Pretoria, the Gauteng department of community safety said.

Two brothers, aged 19 and 25, were driving one in front of the other when caught, spokesperson Zakhele Nkabinde said.

“Both drivers were clocked doing 198km/h and 187km/h respectively in a 120km/h zone and were arrested,” Nkabinde said.

“The other two motorists caught speeding were a 30-year-old and a 47-year-old motorcyclist, both from Mpumalanga.”

“The driver of the motorcycle was caught doing 187km/h. He was late for a funeral in Cullinan and the other motorist, late for a meeting, was clocked doing 185 km/h, both in a 120km/h zone.”

All four were face charges of reckless and negligent driving and exceeding the speed limit.
